The European Commission has published “Artificial Intelligence and Industry – Advanced Innovation for European Manufacturing.”

This is a collection of 14 projects funded by the European Union under its Horizon 2020 (2014-2020) research and innovation support program. These projects focus on AI technologies designed to support and stimulate industry and manufacturing, for example:

• intuitive robots capable of anticipating human actions
• synthetic skin enables industrial robots to feel their human colleagues
• intelligent robots can learn to recycle hazardous materials
• AI for a future-proof global supply chain
• predictive maintenance enters the workshop
• robots take inspiration from the animal kingdom to get back on their feet
• robot-assisted ship inspections
• new miniaturized technology gives autonomous robots sight
